After months of searching and waiting on furniture we’re finally finished!

There is always a transition period when moving into a new house. Each house seems to bring different challenges with furniture placement and the flow of traffic.
This house was no exception, and a year after moving in our existing furniture wasn’t working and was looking worn out.
My vision for the new living room was bright and cozy, so I knew I wanted lighter fabric for the couch and would use accents and plants to bring in color.
This living space is the hub of our home and opens to the kitchen, which means it gets a lot of use. We needed more seating for entertaining and to allow our whole family to sit down together. After going back and forth with different options, we finally decided on a sectional, which would provide the most seating and frame the room.

As much as I love the cream and ivory couches all over social media, I knew my family would destroy a white couch in no time, myself included as the main spiller of our family. We were able to pick a custom fabric from Furniture Row and went with a light grey fabric called Gypsy Mist…I mean, what a great color name, right?
Here is the living room before with our old dark furniture.
An issue which came up was the new sectional layout meant we would lose the plant in the corner. To break up all of the white and keep the natural texture in the corner, we purchased these hanging planters which attached to the wall. We also moved my favorite swag light above the side table, which functions similar to a table or floor lamp.
I must have looked at 1,000 coffee tables before I found this one at Crate & Barrel. It popped up on a sale alert and I immediately knew it was the one. I had gone back and forth deciding between wood, metal, marble & glass… this one had it all! It’s really two tables in one.
Our living room now with the new furniture and rug.
We still need to figure out a larger art piece for the wall and I am contemplating putting in a pendant light, but otherwise I am happy with the result. It feels so good to finally have our main room finished the way we envisioned. I will list sources for all the items we purchased below.

On to the next room!
